Training provides an overview and introductory information for providers about identifying children at risk for hearing loss.



Course Overview


We will discuss the process of childhood hearing screening beginning with prenatal care through the start of school with a special emphasis on newborn hearing screening. We will pay special attention to the detrimental effect that COVID 19 had on newborn hearing screening rates and how professionals can help to identify children at risk for hearing loss or who may have missed their hearing screenings at birth and how to refer them for appropriate services.


Learning Objectives: 

1. Understand the importance of early identification and intervention in children with hearing loss. 

2. Receive an overview of the screening process for children from birth to 5 years of age. 

3. Know how to identify children who are at risk for hearing loss or who have missed screening opportunities and how to refer them for appropriate intervention.
